Turkey Trot Race

I enrolled for the walk to 5K program in July for 9 weeks. I followed the regime to about 10% and generously excused myself for rest of the time for varying reasons from road work to 'too far away'. I can't give up, can I? I enrolled today for the Turkey Trot race held Thanksgiving Day.

As I filled out the form, there was a spot for listing existing physical conditions. "Laziness" would fit right in there as it stands in the way between me and my first 5K. May be its not a physical condition but a mental one.  Freud called it a psychoanalytical concept where people sought pleasure and avoided pain* . For most of us, prolonged exposure to laziness makes the body inactive; it turns out being a physical condition as well.

Well adieu to laziness and hello 5K as my training starts tomorrow.

  1. I never thought you were lazy. I still believe you are. I think you are using the word 'lazy' loosely for occasionally taking a break from hectic life.

All your blog posts indicate that you are a super mom. You can give a wrong impression once but not consistently.

But in any case 5K walk is an excellent goal.

    (BTW:-I am very lazy)

  5. Another goal, another blog! Good luck with all my heart! :)

I used to have a workout blog but it turned out more of a healthy diet journal instead.. maybe I should dust it up and get back to my workouts..

    Will you be blogging daily

  6. I'll be right there in the sidelines handing out water to the trotters!

I've been okay(ish) with my walking so far, but I need to figure out some way of getting in exercise once the snow sets in (does climbing stairs with laundry count, LOL!!!). I think I need to take up yoga...

  7. Hi Geeta. Thx for stopping by my place! Hey, I am selective lazy when it comes to things NOT fitness! ;-) I read your "about me". The key here is to find things that you will do & not want to quit AND do do them at the time best for you. There is not right time except the time you will do them! ;-) Also, food is at least 75% of the equation with weight loss so... and consistency is soooooooo important!

Don't get down on yourself & don't give up. Just get back to it if you "mess up" per your own definition of that.

  10. It is difficult, when one is young, has to work, look after kids and also enjoy life whenever opportunities present themselves. Where is the time to squeeze in fitness. It takes a lot of determination and commitment, and once you get over that hurdle it all becomes very easy, for we automatically become tuned to the routine.

I am sure you will be there so enough like a breeze.
When I was young I never looked anywhere for inspiration, I always inspired myself to change myself, and keep changing as I kept growing.
    All the best.
